One of the best things I did moving to Nashville was to join the Art League (TAL ). A small item in the newspaper got my interest. At that time it was housed in a small white house a few blocks from Centennial Park.
It was the most welcoming group. The original founders were very active in managing an art organization for everyone. We could exhibit three new works each month. Many members had one-person shows. I believe they started the Central South juried show. From new artists to professional, any work could be shown.
Over the years, I have seen many changes. Two locations have brought the association to the art galleries in downtown Nashville. Membership is growing. Its outreach program offers art experiences to young people.
On Saturday, June 7, as a part of the Art Crawl, honorary members will have a group exhibit in addition to the members’ work. I will have Urban Sprawl (48×48 acrylic) in the group showing.. Also a small reverse painting on glass will be in the members’ show. Hope to see you there 6 to 9 p.m.
