New Beginning
Venezuela called off New Year because their leader, Chavez, is ill and unable to attend his inauguration.
Can we ever put our finger in the dike of Time?
Each day is a beginning…the day, a week, a month…and on..
Why do we only celebrate holidays instead of the reverse: celebrate each day and do normal things on holidays, like work overtime or get home for family dinner?
Just thinking. This holiday season has been more quiet than usual because the approaching months will be intense. Our personal labors add stress which we laugh off and ignore. But the foolishness of the government and cable news increase anxiety..
Bright lights show what lies in the shadows. It is not threatening at all.
We hosted a post-Christmas dinner, repeating a similar time 5 or 6 years ago. The same friends, the same location (now Japanese and Thai Instead of Chinese.) We were old friends, now older. Once we thought it would become an annual event, but …things change, people move on, we forget.
Who knew?
This year it seemed right. Bring together the people who over thirty plus years have saved my sanity, who have individually collaborated with and supported me as an artist. Whispered, as an aside someone said ” and you for us.” From youth just married to the codgers on canes, a welcoming staff and wonderful food, we forgot the snow and icy roads and looked toward brighter days to come.
I wish you could have been there. Perhaps, next time.
Happy New Year 2013
Yes, celebrate each day! I’ve learned that through trial and error. Here’s to a better 2013!
